How we began

AutoFlip started with a simple observation: selling a car in Australia was taking more time and effort than it should have.

For many people, the process felt unclear and uncomfortable. Sellers were juggling enquiries, unsure pricing, paperwork and follow-ups, often without knowing if they were even heading in the right direction. What should have been a straightforward transaction felt unnecessarily difficult.

That frustration sparked a question — what is AutoFlip meant to solve, and how could it help everyday people sell their cars without feeling overwhelmed?

The gap we kept seeing

As we looked closer, the same issues kept appearing across the car-buying and selling market.

Sellers struggled to understand what their car was really worth. Trust was hard to come by, and the process often felt weighted in favour of experienced buyers rather than everyday owners. Too much time was spent managing details instead of making informed decisions.

The market was active, but the experience was not designed around the seller. That gap between opportunity and experience became impossible to ignore and helped shape what AutoFlip is today.

How the idea grew into AutoFlip

AutoFlip grew from the belief that technology could simplify selling a car while still keeping people in control of their decisions.

That belief was shaped by deep experience in the automotive industry. Backed by IDOM Innovations, the corporate venture arm of the Tokyo Stock Exchange-listed IDOM Inc., AutoFlip draws on more than 25 years of wholesale automotive experience. This insight helped shape a smart system that understands how cars are valued, traded and sold in real market conditions.

The idea evolved into a platform that helps sellers list their cars clearly, understand pricing and connect with licensed buyers who are ready to engage. Instead of leaving sellers to manage every step alone, AutoFlip was designed to guide them through the process with structure, support and clarity.

Over time, the platform expanded to support more listings and more sellers across Australia, with the same focus on making the experience easy to follow and transparent from start to finish.

What continues to guide us

AutoFlip is built around people, not just transactions. Selling a car should feel clear, fair and easy to follow.

We sit between a dealership trade-in and selling privately, giving sellers a simpler way to move forward with the right support. As the platform grows, our focus stays the same: help sellers understand their options and move at their own pace.

What guides our approach comes down to three key areas.

Where AutoFlip is today and where we’re headed

Today, AutoFlip connects Australian sellers with a wide network of licensed buyers, helping cars find interest based on real market demand. Hundreds of vehicles are listed regularly, reflecting a marketplace that continues to grow and evolve.

Looking ahead, AutoFlip is focused on expanding access, improving the selling experience and continuing to build tools that support sellers in Australia and New Zealand.

The goal remains simple. Make it easier to sell your car in a way that is better suited to how people actually make decisions.
